From New Planting Seeds Comp: Mark Crozer, Static Daydream, Lovetones, Young Sinclairs, Seeers, Super Vacations
We would have told you about this sooner but only just now got word of it ourownself. The most excellent Planting Seeds Records have released a 14-song compilation of freebies by a number of our favebands or members thereof. (The postitle enumerates the names of our very favorites, with songs posted below.) Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, & Infinitely Vol 2 will be available for free download until November 17 (of this year), so you have a pleasant cushion of time available for checking them out and deciding what, if anything, to do next. Many thanks to PSR for the, you know, implant.
Update: PSR removed the widgets, as promised/threatened. We still say, though, "Many thanks." Time to go buy-buy.

From The Active Listener Sampler 25: Prince Ruperts Drops, Chemistry Set, Dowling Poole, Delia Haunt, Halasan Bazar, Greek Theatre
Nathan Ford's done it again, and in more ways than 13. This month's TAL Sampler is pretty darned fab, and we've had to exercise an iron grip to keep our fidgety widgeting tendencies in check. (Kind of painful is that iron grip, but at least it's our own.)
Of course you've probably already discovered that for some time now, Bandcamp's been putting all of an EP/LP's playable songs in the same widget, but we like to post the songs individually so you can get right to them. Quirky? Not really and not really important.
But enough of this, let's get to it. We like all the songs, love ten, and are posting our six most favorite. And of course we most humbly and heartily thank Mr. Nathan Ford for his stellar work, no matter how doofusish it makes us look by comparison.

Friday Freebs: Daddy Issues, Dollyrots, Marvelous Beauhunks, alicetales, Radiator Hospital, Freeks
What we're gonna do here is kind of hopscotch our way back and forth through several months of our "mp3 possibles" list. By the time you get to the bottom, you might be thinking, "This is oldstuff, pp." But then again, you might not.
We especially like #4 as well. (See pic, duh.)
Not sure what they're saying but sure love the way they say it.
Well, we just discovered this last one's no longer a freeb. Please shoot us. (Thanks in advance.)

Compilation of Compilations by The Active Listener, Popboomerang, & Ice Cream Man Power Pop and More
In the mood to sample and freely download 95 powerpop and psychpop tunes? Yeh, thought so. Well, we've had the good fortune to learn of and freely take from several excellent compilations of late, widgeted cornucopias of which are posted below.
From the ever-faithful, ever-active Nathan Ford comes The Active Listener Sampler 24. Our favorites are Nos. 5, 11, & 15, but that one widget below contains all fifteen free and legals.
From fabpop Australian label Popboomerang comes the sixteen-song comp, Up To Our Eyeball In it: A Popboomerang sampler. Our favorites are #2, 6, 7, 10, 12, and 13, but for some reason, Bandcamp has decided you WILL kick it off with #8. But, hey, it's free, they're all in the widget, so who's complainin'?
And last but way the opposite of least comes the extremely tasty supercomp from Mr. Wayne Lundquist Ford, of powerpop blog/Podomatic radio show Ice Cream Man Power Pop and More!. Wayne got permission from 63 artists to post 64 free and legals, so we're pretty sure you're going to find quite a few handsandfeetful of great stuff. We downloaded and sampled all 64, OF COURSE, but our favorites are (deep intake of breath) 2, 3, 6, 8, 11, 12, 14, 21, 26, 28, 29, 35, 36, 39, 40, 45, 48, 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, 60, and 64. We thought about posting a separate widget for each of our faves, but then thought, wellllllll, perhaps not.
Needless to say, but we will anyway, unspeakable but typeable thanks to these generous souls for so bounteously passing out the pop!
pppurcha$e$ at eMusic, Bandcamp, & Amazon - Third Quarter 2014 & Earlier
Let the tri-monthly excitement begin. If you find yourself liking some of the same music as we numbskulls, - yeah, that Wesley Wolfe LP's thrice plunked our twanger - you might want to check out our buydown$ of powerpop, indiepop, shoegazepop, psychpop, garagepop, and whateverpop at eMusic during July, August, and September of 2014. Many's the grin induced thereby, and we hope they're infectious. And for even more gins - and possibly a few griggles - we added some recent and not-so-recent purcha$e$ at Bandcamp and Amazon. Lots of primo tuneage in those stashes as well.
to be whisked.

Vegas With Randolph's Fabulous Freebie
Please please yourself and freely scarper off with this top-notch number from D.C.-area favepoppers, Vegas With Randolph. Three more singles are due out soon, all aiming to whet the appetite for their forthcoming LP, A+1, due out in 2015. (Personally, ours is, like, totally whetted.) Read and hear more here, here, here, here, and here.
Jonny Polonsky's Vision
We've been buying this LA popper for quite a few years now and are very much enjoying his just-released EP of mid-paced rockers, Vision. Pick it up for name-your-price download at Bandcamp and check out the other JP product available there as well. Gather more sights and sounds here, here, here, and here. We begin with our favorite from Vision, but the other three are in the widget as well.
And here's one we bought that always gets us going going . . .

Hail, White Fence, & All Thy Works!
Tim 'n' Ty
In case we haven't made it fairly clear, White Fence are one of our very favorite bands and have been for some time now. And of course before Fencemeister Tim Presley got out the whitewash, we were loving what he was doing in the more somber but highly uplifting settings of Darker My Love.
So it's a no-brainer (convenient for us) that when we just now came across Famous Class's Less Artists More Condos (LAMC) issue #12, we would drop all we were doing (sorry 'bout the dishes, Darling) and post it prontito. If you haven't yet picked up the most recent WF triumph, the Ty Segall-produced For The Recently Found Innocent, you should start to click most ricky tick. (And of course, check out LAMC #11, with Segal bandmate Mikal Cronin here.)
Perhaps we're not yet enamored of the work of White Fence touring guitarist Jack Name (aka John Webster Johns) quite as much, but that doesn't mean we won't be or you shouldn't be. So check out the second widgeted tune below if you're so inclined.
Enough jabber. Cue the ears.
Labels:
Darker My Love,
Jack Name,
LAMC,
Mikal Cronin,
Tim Presley,
Ty Segall,
White Fence

Less than a month of Summer/Winter left but no worries, Northampton one-man chymer Aaron Hemington sounds great year-round. Listen below, read a spate of bloggerly encomium here and here (click "See More"), get another freesong here, and buy some here. If you overlook the G.
