Freebie Faves from Screwballs and Curveballs ICM COMP 2019: The Galileo 7, Ashes For Dreams, Glenn Robinson, Tommy Sistak, David Woodard, The Speak, The Stan Laurels, Jordan Jones, Emperor Penguin, The Details, The Unswept, Day & Dream, Mondello, The Turnback, The Ace, Trip Wire, Building Rockets, Librarians With Hickeys, Psychotic Youth, Tommy & The Rockets, Nick Frater, and Streetcar Conductors

Dude's done it again. Mr. Wayne Lundquist Ford, aka "The Ice Cream Man," purveyor of powerpop, janglepop, hooky melodic pop, and other fine dairy products, has blazed forth with yet another of his annual Summer compilations of primo pop for FREE DOWNLOADing porpoises. (Sure, "blazed" is kind of oxymoronic, but we are proud, pimpled morons.)

We've just finished our annual recon of all 133 songs and have put together a playlist of our very favorites. (See it under the Bandcamp widget of all 133 songs.) If you find a song you'd like to download, click the ////bc link and be swept (or unswept, in one case) away to its Bandcamp page for downloading activity. To download all 133 songs, click the word "download" in the Bandcamp widget.

Many thanks to The Man, The Cool Cool Legend, Mr. WLF, for the expertise and effort involved in making this stellar collection available for y/our listening pleasure. And of course, many thanks to the superb artists for making such terrific music and letting us have it free of charge.

To view our previous posts of Ice Cream Man favorites, click here. (Prepare yourselves for a good long stay and myriad conesful of enjoyment.)

Update - 30.vi.19 - Individual songs are no longer available for free, BUT you can download the whole compilation at once for free. Wayne explains the situation here.

Favorite Flavors from Ice Cream Man's Summer 2018 Compilation (Installment 3): Mythical Motors, Christopher Jameson, The Stone Lyons, Trip Wire, Golden Fang, The Sitting Tenants, Dave Sheinin, Tomas Nilsson, The Outryders, Mud Fox Tribe, The Brand New Luddites, Kurt Baker Combo

And now to the third and final installment of our favorite songs from Ice Cream Man Wayne Lundquist Ford's superduper Summer 2018 compilation, Songs We Learnt At Sundae School. So popular has this comp been that it has twice reached its quota for free downloads and been rescued by Futureman Records. You can of course pay for the whole LP or individual songs if you like, but if you want the free download, you will need to download all 163 numbers at once and then sort them out according to your own particular impeccable preferences. Many thanks to Wayne Lundquist Ford, Futureman Records, and the contributing artists. Previous posts in this and previous summers' comps can be found here.

(Some of you will be bitterly disappointed to find we are using larger widgets for individual songs, but here's why: when we used the smaller widgets, as in previous posts, the artist names did not appear, and we can't have that now, can we? Answer: we can but we don't want to.)

Below is the second installment of songs we particularly liked in the recent monster (nice monster, fab monster) compilation by Ice Cream Man Wayne Lundquist Ford, Songs We Learnt At Sundae School. (See background information here in Installment 1). Once again we're putting the  FREELY DOWNLOADABLE full comp first, followed by our favorite songs. If you want to do the FREE DOWNLOAD of a particular song, click the songtitle to go to its download page at Bandcamp. Happy listening and grabbing and stuff. Once again, and OF COURSE, thanks, Wayne!!!

Faves from The Co-Op Communiqué Volume Four: The Well Wishers, Pseudonym, The Click Beetles, The John Sally Ride, Jonny Weathers, John T. McMullan, Wicked Immigrant

We recently received an emailed communique from Mr. Dw. Dunphy announcing the latest compilation of songs "to break the stalemate between an eager audience and the distribution channels that cannot come together." And break it he certainly does, and with a loud and very satisfying pop. You can read all about it at Bandcamp, but in the meantime, here are our very favorites from the latest, 57-song menu, all available for free download. We might mention that after sampling all 57 and noting our favorites, we found when it came time to post that some of the playing order had been changed. We hope the songs posted below conform to the list of artists we named in the postitle.

Faves from Wassup Rocker Radio Comp: The Why Oh Whys, Lucy And The Rats, Private Function, Killer Hearts, Latte+, Stufft Crust, The Connection

Here are our favorites from the compilation, Wassup Rocker Radio Presents: Sick Sounds. All are available for Free Download. Many thanks to Faster and Louder blog for the headsup. We were most favorably affected by the more mellow songs, so if you wanta get more raucous, you'll find many opportunities to do so.

Comp of Comps: The Darling Buds, Chemtrails, Geodesic Ivy Dub, The Beginner's Mynd, Sweet Jane and Claire, Whimsical, The Mongrelettes

Chemtrails
Here are a few favesongs from various compilations we've come across lately and not-so-lately. All are available for free or name-your-price download as of this posting. Each widget has all the songs on each compilation, in case you want to do further exploration.

We also like the HOLY song (#7), which has been popping up on lots of faveblogs of late.

The original was the first downloadable we ever posted at this here little blog of ours. Sigh.

We also really "dig" the ones by The Luck of Eden Hall (#1), and Os Noctambulos (#11).

We also are enamored of #7 and #9.

Got a whole lotta gas-and-oily-smelling fuzz on this comp.

Fave Flaves from Ice Cream Man's Latest Compilation (Phase 1***): Jose Estragos, Spygenius, The Ace, The Brigadier, Tommy Sistak, Angostura Bitters, Vista Blue, Goldstoned, The Four Chords, The Smart Folk

For the third summer in a row, Ice Cream Man Wayne Lundquist Ford has dropped a superb compilation of powerpop, poppsych, janglerock, and various other genres for free download. Rocking Road (get it: Rocky Road . . . ice cream, yepsir) has 126 lickalicious songs, and earlier today we sampled them all and compiled a playlist of our 40 favorites. We'll do a series of posts highlighting these favorites, and you take it from there.

We're suggesting several options.

1. If you'd prefer to go straight to the compilation's Bandcamp page, click here. You can listen to each song and download the ones you like individually or go ahead and download the whole caboodle.
2. Listen to all 126 songs in the first widget below. Download the entire compilation by clicking "download."
3. Check out the ten individual favorites we posted below. If you like one, click the songtitle to go to its free download page.
4. Come up with your own plan or none at all.

We already hailed him on Facebook but want to thank Wayne again for the hard work, thoughtfulness, and generosity that went into this project. We also thank the talented artists for making their songs available for free download. Be sure to check out Wayne's Ice Cream Man blog here and listen to podcasts of his excellent weekly radio show. See our previous posts of Ice Cream Man faves here, here, and here.

TAL Compilation Faves: The Beginner's Mynd , 8x8, The Planets Collide, Distant Creatures

Sad we were to hear that Mr. Nathan Ford will be somewhat less active bloggily than in times past. Glad we were that he promised continued compilations for and from The Active Listener. Below are our favorites from the latest, Sampler 43. These and the remaining thirteen are available for name-your-price download.

Ice Cream Man's New Flavour of the Month . . .

. . . is busy melting in the mou ears and oh, yeah, we're scarfing, bae bae. Hot on the heels of his gargantuan, hugely incredible 139-scoop summer compilation, Power Pop Brain Freeze, the Ice Cream Man cometh with a new serving of tasty treats. Below are our three favoured flavours, but please do go check out all of them and see which best sate your own particular palate. The (name your) price is right!

And if you really thought we'd let this opportunity slip by without posting the following groovy thing, we're really quite, like, not chuffed.

Faves from Ice Cream Man's Power Popsicle Brain Freeze Compilation (Part 1): The Galileo 7, Arvidson & Butterflies, Glenn Robinson, Talk Show Host, Hanky Panky, Readymade Breakup, The Manics, Broken Promise Keeper

For the past couple of years, powerpop empresario/ice cream man Wayne Lundquist Ford has issued compilations of free and legally downloadable primo powerpop. And each year the scoops get bigger and better. We just got through consuming all 139 of this year's fare, waddled over to our editing box, and are posting our very favorites below and in a future post.

But here's how were doing it. The first widget has all 139 scoops, in case you want to scarf them as we did, one by one. Underneath that first widget come eight of our favorites, not necessarily in playing order. We will indicate each song's number, just in case that might be, you know, useful.

Many thanks to Wayne Lundquist Ford for these incredible compilations. As he helpfully pointed out, if the quota of downloads has been met at his Bandcamp page, you can also find the compilation free of charge at the Futureman Records Bandcamp page.

Click here and here for the two previous Ice Cream Man Powerpop and More compilations. We'll be posting our other eight faves soon.

Comps for Comps: Magic Shoppe, Aethereal, The Sun's Evil Twin, The Isabelles, Royal Atlas, Kontiki Suite, Red Cosmos + DWG

Our compliments to two of our favorite sites for continuing to release great name-your-price compilations of psych and psychpop tuneage. Some of the following have been previously dropped into our Songdrop widgets, so we're quite ecstatic to find they are now available for free and legal download. One or two (e.g., The Isabelles) we've already posted but are doing so again in case you missed them the first time. Pretty good way to pspend a Psunday (or any of the other six). Oh, and if you get to this post sometime after The Psychedelic Underground widgets no longer say "download," click here for possible relief. As always, we're posting only our very favorites. There's lots of great stuff still available where these came from.

Please note there's another Magic Shoppe ditty available in that first TAL widget below. Bandcamp   Facebook
