SoundCloud Freebies from the Powerpopulist Archives

As promised (admittedly eons ago), here is the SoundCloud installment in our series of free and legally downloadable powerpop, indiepop, janglepop, etc., etc. songs from the Powerpopulist Archives. We checked just before posting, and all the songs below are shown to be downloadable. (Be advised that sometimes a song that is supposedly downloadable proves not to be so when click comes to shove.)

You can download in a couple of ways.
From the Widget Below
1. While a song is selected, either click the download arrow or
3. Click "View track" and then at the song's SoundCloud page, click "More" and choose "Download file."
4. BTW, not tryin' to toot our own particular horn, but unless you like songs to screech to a halt, this might be a good time to practice our little tip on using your Mouse Scroll Wheel.

Please keep in mind (or, like, totally ignore the fact) that some of these songs predate the current year, even going back as far as 2015 and 2016, for Pete's sake. Even More Freebies From the Archives - Downloadable Bandcampers - Phase 3

Perhaps you doubted us. Perhaps we doubted ourselves. Perhaps we waited too long. Perhaps we didn't wait long enough. But here we are, hat and fappy and thrusting and bursting with more free & legal downloadables we've rounded up from the Powerpopulist Archives. We just now checked each and every and verified that all are indeed available for either Free or Name-Your-Price Download. Clicking /////bc will take you to the appropriate Bandcamp download page. As before, if you get to Bandcamp and find a song has a price attached, do one of three things: 1) Click "Buy the Full Digital Album" and be taken to the page where it's downloadable for free or name-your-price (in which case, type "0"in the pricebox); 2) Click the album name just under the song name at the top left-hand side of the Bandcamp page; 3) Pay money to buy the song. We attach no particular importance to the number of songs in this Phase 3 playlist (69); that's simply the way it turned out. Most of the songs are powerpop, indiepop. janglepop, and other kinds of hooky, melodic pop, but this list is a bit more varied than the previous two. It includes some shoegaze, some crunch, and even has a wad of bubblegum stuck in there somewhere. We hope you find plenty to cop, feel, and flow with dopaminiacally. Oh, and, yes, we do have the aforepromised SoundCloud and straight mp3-linked downloadable playlists pretty much ready to post, and when that will be done is anybody's guess. Doubt us do ye? As we've been posting lots of freebies lately, we want to point out that these are not freebies. They are, however, very much worth buying, which we've personally done whenever possible. Back in December we got so immersed in putting together our 2018 Powerpopulist Faves post that we didn't post a Faves of the Faves playlist for November and December. No great harm's been done, though, because A) quite a few of the songs appeared in that 2018 list and B) this blog is probably not capable of doing great harm. Playmoss continues to have "issues" with songs from Bandcamp, so we've put all of those at the bottom of the widget. 2017 Powerpopulist Faves

Tired of end-of-year lists? No? Well goody goody 'cause here's one we think you'll like. We sure did because it's, like, ours, duh: our very favorite powerpop, indiepop, janglepop, psychpop, whateverpop songs of 2017. Every song's a personal eargasm, so that's a groovy skyrockets-in-flight kind of thing. As suggested below, this is not a ranking but more of a chronology by release and discovery.

"Whaaaaaaat, only 109 songs??? You're a piker, pp."

Yeah, but we've listened to (or sampled) thousands of new songs this year and cried crocotears leaving out dearly beloveds from the list. So this is actually quite a winnowing, a harvesting, a curation, if you will. Only the choicest numbers for y/our delectation. Plus also there's actually more than 109. (See below.) Plus you can go to our Powerpopulist Playmoss Collection to see/hear monthly favorites and genre-specific playlists. Oodles of them.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy. The songs are listed pretty close to the order in which we discovered them, although songs by the same artist are grouped together. And btw, Playmoss wouldn't show the artist name for some of the songs, so here is that valuable information

April 2017 Faves of the Faves Playlist

Sweet indeed, for April showered us with a nourishing bounty of musical discovery. But, hey, enough poetry, wot?

We added 81 mostly new-to-us titles to our Playmoss April 2017 playlist and from that list have widgeted 31 of our very favorites below. We've thought about launching a radio show to share our discoveries but find these Playmoss playlists preferable for several reasons: A) You don't have to hear our voice. B) It's easy for you to drop the needle from song to song, skipping ahead should you - Fod gorbid - not be enjoying a song. C) You seldom need to wonder which artist or song you're listening to. D) Other reasons we don't care to mention.

We indicated you need not be in doubt as to Artist or Songtitle, but sometimes Playmoss does not display one or more of those useful pieces of information. In the widget below, that applies to the following:

And sometimes Playmoss simply refuses to ingest a song at all. This month a hideous injustice might have been done when "Mossy" refused to display any of the songs off of Peachfuzz's fabulous Pop Of The World LP. Fortunately, we posted that free and legally downloadable LP here, along with some other Peachfuzzes "Mossy" wouldn't accept. We love Playmoss very much, but sometimes . . . sheesh.

March 2017 Faves of the Faves Playlist

The lion has transmogrified into a lamb, i.e., March 2017 is done for, so it's time to take stock. Below is a Playmoss playlist with 19 of our very favorite songs found during the windy month. If you'd like to check out all 50 songs we added during March, click here.

Actually, a couple of numbers we would have added got balky at Playmoss, so we're adding them as videos. And for gins and griggles, we're posting the Forty February Faves playlist we didn't get around to posting at the end of Shortmonth. Hope you enjoy. Oh, not to be presumptuous, but Playmoss has an app (iPhone, Android) you can download to your portable device in case you'd like to listen on the go.

BTW, the March playlist is in order from first of the month to end. The February list is in reverse chronological order. Why? WDK.

Finally, there's no doubt as to what got us most excited last month: the new EP by Oberon/Sydney band Green Buzzard, which we recently posted. Song #11 below ("Dream In/Out") is by them.
