Cuomo was backed unrehearsedly by Windy City rockpunkgrrrls, The Cathy Santonies. Obviously I liked what I heard, else it wouldn't be up there. Don't let my unruffled Apollonian surface fool you: this song drives me wild with pleasure. Like, Dionysianally or something. I discovered this Melbourne band a couple of years ago and bought a bunch at eMusic. Last week or so I was cyberwindowshopping and noticed with pleasure a bunch more of their albums are now available there and also here. On a whim I surfed over to their website and found "I Am the Light" shining forth, along with a couple of others available for your perusal. If you have trouble with the m4a format, Peter's Power Pop kindly posted an mp3 recently, so do what you need to do. According to their MySpace site, they are putting the finishing touches on their forthcoming LP, In Another Time. Hubba.

Slumberland has/have (depending on whether you speak/write Brit, Aussie, Kiwi, or otherwise) just announced the release this month of an updated compilation of songs by seminal D.C. indiepoppers Black Tambourine. Available in both LP and CD formats, the album contains all the songs from a 1999 compilation plus six previously unreleased tunes. The band, which hung up the tambo in 1991, has/have regrabbed it to record four new songs they used to perform but never recorded. You can find one more free downloadable at Slumberland here and can check out samples of mp3s to buy from the unaugmented 1999 issue here and here.
